Siemens MSD80 / MSD81
The MSD80 and MSD81 are Siemens-manufactured DME units used on the N54 twin-turbo and S55 twin-turbo engines respectively. The MSD80 platform is one of the most thoroughly documented BMW ECUs, making it exceptionally well-supported for tuning.

Reading Methods
Full OBD reading and writing supported. The MSD80/81 platforms have excellent tool support across all major tuning tool brands. Boot mode is rarely needed but available as a recovery method.
File Request Information
Provide: full OBD read including calibration data, ISN code (for some operations), vehicle VIN, mileage, and current hardware modification list. Note any previous calibrations applied.
