Custom calibration relies on datalogging — recording real-time engine data while driving under specific conditions. This data tells the calibration engineer exactly how the engine is responding to the current calibration in your specific environment.
The datalogging workflow: install the initial calibration, drive under specified conditions while logging, submit the log file, receive a revised calibration, repeat until optimal. Typically 2-4 revision cycles for a well-prepared submission.
Log files in the format specified by the calibration engineer, description of driving conditions during logging (temperature, altitude, fuel), confirmation of fuel used, any subjective observations (hesitation, knock, heat soak), odometer reading at time of logging.
Ensure the datalogging tool is configured to record all requested parameters at the specified sample rate, verify the log file is complete and not truncated, drive under the conditions specified by the calibration engineer, and allow the engine to reach full operating temperature before logging.
