The Bosch MG1 family is used across BMW's current petrol engine range, including the B48 and B58 platforms. It features advanced encryption on newer variants and manages all engine functions including boost control, injection timing, VANOS and knock regulation.

Reading Methods
OBD reading available on pre-2019 models. Post-2019 models increasingly require bench or boot access via the DME connector due to updated security. Always verify the exact DME version before selecting a reading method.
File Request Information
When submitting a file request for MG1-equipped vehicles, provide: full original ECU read (not a partial read), DME software version number, vehicle VIN, current mileage, and any active fault codes. Specify whether the read was OBD, bench or boot.
